INVENTION INTERVENTION

It's official - Target Entertainment is looking for inventors with a prototype that they believe to be a revolutionary creation but need the funding and expertise of a seasoned inventor with successful inventions to help get their product to the next level, or even out into the market place.Two inventors will asses your invention and give you tips on how to make it more efficient, successful, or producible. If they feel that this is an invention that truly has potential, they may even invest in taking it to the next level.

The types of inventors we are looking for run the gamut: from those who have brilliant ideas but are missing that one last “touch” to make it perfect, to those who are passionate about what they are doing but may just need a little direction. If that's you - our inventors can help you get on the right track.

Whether you have a surefire success or a slightly misguided idea, our inventors will give you the opportunity to share your concerns and questions, knowing the advice you are receiving is coming from people who ave been there - done that.

Key Challenges of Product Development for Entrepreneurs

For new, aspiring entrepreneurs, it can be as overwhelming and stressful an experience to pursue a new product development as it can be exciting and rewarding. At STEEN Solutions we help guide and support our customers to success and have, over the years, found that a few key considerations are important for new entrepreneurs to keep in mind as they enter into the adventure of pursuing a product development;

Project planning and use of “Go/No-Go” checkpoints.

There are many books written on the topic of planning, and most planning strategies apply to product development efforts as well. “Measure twice, cut once” is therefore also a golden mindset to have in the process of product development. Among the many aspects of project planning, we highly recommend incorporating clearly defined “go/no-go milestones” in the project schedule with pre-defined success criteria for either continuing or discontinuing a given project focus. Effective use of go/no-go milestones (also often referred to as checkpoints) allows for entrepreneurs to stay objective throughout the development process and to – if needed – kill a project before too much money is invested in it.

Don't drink your own Cool-Aid!

We’ve all done this… dream up what we perceive to be a great idea only to find out that very few other people share the same consideration. Therefore, we recommend seeking out trusted friends, family, or other sources of objective feedback to sanity check your own thoughts and assumptions. While many new entrepreneurs choose to avoid this due to fear of rejection, you’d be surprised to see how feedback can be used constructively to improve ideas rather than simply kill them. Bottom line is that feedback is ALWAYS beneficial as long as you interpret and leverage it appropriately.

Rely on your strengths.

New entrepreneurs are often on a tight budget and want to do as much themselves as possible. However, in many cases, having to climb steep learning curves in many different areas can drain even the most driven entrepreneur and ultimately cause project failure. Therefore, outsource the areas where your interest or skill sets are not up to par and spend your finite amount of energy focusing on getting the project idea brought to life. If you are not a finance person, hire an accountant to help. If you don’t know how to create software, electrical design, or perform mechanical analysis, hire someone else to do it. It is not a failure to do so – in fact, it will make the project much more likely to succeed.
